The DFW art community is growing fast. Large scale development of Arts Districts in both Dallas and Ft. Worth, music festivals, gallery openings every Friday, video festivals, the Mayor of Dallas just declared an Art Week, etc… It is important to keep emerging artists in the conversation as the arts community develops. It is also important to showcase line-ups that would never be seen at commercial venues. The International Home Theater Festival provides the perfect platform to do just that. Throwing a show in your home allows for a mix of talents that audiences and gallery-goers will not be able to experience all together, anywhere else in the DFW Metroemess. We are the scene; let’s develop this together.

Martin Back

Martin Back is an artist, composer, musician and performer. His work has been exhibited internationally at galleries, festivals, and performance venues, such as Synthetic Zero, NYC; Anti-Matter Underground Film Festival, Victoria, Canada; High Mayhem; New Mexico, USA; and Noisefloor, Staffordshire, UK. He received a B.A. in Moving Image Arts in 2004 from the College of Santa Fe in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where is his mentors included media theorist and historian Gene Youngblood and media artist David Stout. He was assistant to pioneering video artists Steina and Woody Vasulka from 2002 to 2007. He was Director of Digital Media Arts from 2008 to 2009 at the Center for Contemporary Arts, also in Santa Fe, NM. He studied composition and sound art privately with composer David Dunn from 2008 to 2010. He is currently pursuing studies toward an MFA in New Media Art in the College of Visual Arts and Design at the University of North Texas, Denton, Texas.

Juicy The Emissary

Dissatisfied with the current nomenclature of his craft, Juicy the Emissary dubs himself an aural architect, building sound structures that most commonly instill a spirit of exploration in the listener: “sonically leading through dimly lit tunnels and entering spacious chambers guarded by pointy, mysteriously shimmering crystals.” - Matt Jost, rapreviews.com

While his portfolio as a producer, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and vocalist includes hip hop, jazz, classical, country, latin, rock, funk, r&b, barbershop, and modern dance, Juicy the Emissary’s electronic music uses old, organic sounds in modern, synthetic ways. His compositions have been featured in competitions and festivals from New York City to Kingston, Jamaica and his performances have been featured at events and showcases with artists like Jonwayne, B Lewis, and Eliot Lipp. http://vimeo.com/12705695

Ulnae

Epic experimental soundscapes of Noise made by classical instrumentation, home made electronics, looping pedals, vocals, and effects. The project formed by Darcy Neal and Lily Taylor, out of a desire to integrate interests and genres- of all kinds. Costumes, projections, rituals, unexpected gadgets and acoustic instrumentation add to the performance; you never know what to expect, so come prepared with ear plugs.

Odd Partials

Odd Partials is a clarinet/electronics duo specializing in interactive music and live improvisation.

Formed in 2011 by clarinetist Rachel Yoder and computer musician Greg Dixon, Odd Partials performs precomposed interactive compositions by a variety of composers, as well as live improvisations. Odd Partials performed and gave clinics as guest artists at the University of Wyoming’s New Frontiers festival in September 2012. The duo has also performed at the 2013 Society for Electroacoustic Music in the U.S. (SEAMUS) conference in St. Paul, MN, Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios in Denton, TX; the Spectrum concert series at the University of North Texas, at UNT on the Square, and at a random house party in the mountains of Colorado.

Sean Miller

Sean Miller is an artist who works with sound, video, sculpture and space. He graduated from the College of Santa Fe with a Bachelors Degree in Inter-Media Arts. His recent work explores interdependent relationships between the mind and body. He is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in New Media at the University of North
Texas.

Nevada Hill

Nevada Hill is a internationally known artist/illustrator/screen printer that lives and works in Denton, Tx. He has recently acquired the position of Creative Designer/ Production Manager of Good Records Recordings. He has been commissioned to do posters with AEG Live, AT&T Performing Art Center, Granada Theater, and Parade of Flesh. He also does design and illustration with such Bands/artists as: The Polyphonic Spree, Preteen Zenith, New Fumes, Josh Pearson, Terminator 2, and Dust Congress. http://www.nevadahill.com

Ceramic/ Pottery Installation by

Lindsey Bass

Lindsey Bass is a ceramicist/ potter based in Denton, TX. Her work centers around traditional wheel-thrown pottery, and techniques that focus on craftsmanship of functional pieces meant for everyday use like family meals. Bass allows the glazing process to reflect aesthetics of the ever-changing Texas skies and terrain by layering matt, semi-matt, and gloss glazes, loosely dipped and poured to create abstract landscapes in each unique piece.
A student of acclaimed professors, Elmer Taylor and Jerry Austin at The University of North Texas, Bass is currently a ceramic instructor at Denton State Supported Living Center and regularly shows her work.
